THURSDAY 30TH MAR 2017
4 PM TO 8 PM
441 W 26TH STREET
Organizer: Jim Furlong
Discourse and Discovery: Hudson Guild Gallery
The eight artists in Discourse & Discovery work in a rich variety of media, process and aesthetic orientation, and are from diverse cultural backgrounds. Their commonality is a commitment to their individual artistic expression, and a dedication to teaching the visual arts to older adults through residencies with Elders Share the Arts (ESTA) at NYC at senior centers. While each provides instruction — in either drawing, painting, collage, clay, book arts, photography or sculpture — as an ESTA teaching artist, their concerns are always with the enrichment that creative expression brings to the intellectual, cultural and social lives of elders, and the connections between art making and the seniors’ own history, and life experience.
