The Sculpture of Michael Poast

Poast describes his sculptures as being created from strong emotions. His recent explorations into thresholds, by which he means the carving out of spatial areas and volumetric forms, has lead him to using linear forms to imply volume. The negative shapes and torsion filled forms become a positive volume, traversing yet another dimension. Michael Poast has exhibited his outdoor sculptures at such sites as the Socrates Sculpture Park (Long Island City) and Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park and Museum (Hamilton, Ohio). He currently has work on view at the Howland Cultural Center (Beacon, NY), Pound Ridge Reserve (Cross River, NY), Unison Art Center (New Paltz, NY) and the Collaborative Concepts Farm Sculpture Project (Garrison, NY).
