XY Motion is a collaborative dance project based in New York City. Under the direction of Xiang Xu and Hyung Ji, the project is noteworthy for combining different Asian philosophical concepts with bodily motions inspired by nature.
Ainesh Madan is a performer, choreographer and musician in New York. He is currently dancing for Bessie Award winning choreographer, RoseAnne Spradlin.
Amirov Dance Theater presents a comic piece, The Making of a Babushka, examining cultural stereotypes through the eyes of a Russian emigrant. Drawing on Amirov’s childhood memories, the work explores the connection between two Russian female icons: “the babushka” as a prosaic cultural symbol and “the Russian folk dancer” as a symbol of idealized, young, female beauty.
Erick Montes was born in Mexico City in 1979 — becoming a professional dancer in 1997 after his training at The National School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. From 2003 – 2015, he was a member of The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and is now the Artistic Director of Danceable Projects.
Kriyol Dance! Collective is a collective of artist-leaders working together to create one platform advocating for the unapologetic voices of Black arts, and Haitian culture in particular, through collaborative and unified work and intervention. Kriyol Dance! Collective will perform an excerpt of their seminal choreographic work Lavi Miyò | On Resistance and Revolution.
