Back in October of 2021, Jeff Boulware joined the Hudson Guild team as the Program & Volunteer Coordinator for the Elliott-Chelsea Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NORC) program. Jeff plays a central role in connecting NORC clients to the resources they need, as well as in delivering activities and programs that are appealing and promote socialization. With Jeff’s help, NORC has been able to offer its participants a safe environment to gather, make connections, and create a real sense of community for older adults to age in place.
We’d like to thank the New York Foundation for Eldercare for supporting our Adult Services program and assisting us in helping older adults enjoy healthier, safer, more productive and dignified lives.
On August 27th, we held another successful Back to School Bash for the community with nearly 500 backpacks given away and hundreds of people showing up for free school supplies, face-painting, food, and games! A very special thanks to Disney for sponsoring this event, making it possible for us to help out families and individuals of our community prepare for the upcoming school year. We’d also like to thank the volunteers from Disney for all of the incredible help offered during the event.
In August volunteers from Boston Consulting Group made several visits to our centers to help out with our K-8 Youth Services and Adult Services programs! Volunteers from BCG attended a field day event at Penn South Playground with K-8 Summer Camp where campers played basketball, baseball, ring toss, tug of war, got their faces painted, and much more.
Volunteers from BCG facilitated weekly storytelling workshops with older adult and K-8 participants as a way to bring them together through meaningful conversations and discussions.
Throughout the summer, The Bindlestiff Family Cirkus held multiple circus workshops for our K-8 participants. On August 10th, they were able to present all of the skills they learned this summer from plate-spinning to feather-balancing and even tightrope walking!
A special thanks to all volunteers that visited our centers this summer including BlackRock, Essence, & Google to help out with programming, beautification projects, and making memorable moments for our participants.
