To all the hardworking teachers who dedicate their time to guide the next generation in the right direction, we say thank you. Know that you're acknowledged, your job matters and parents thank you as well. Teachers are so important in the economic, social, and personal development of a country because they have the power to mold minds. They are role models to future generations on how to behave and what to aspire to, they also have the power to motivate children to reach their full potential. We cannot thank you enough.
Did you ever want to play squash as a kid? Well, eight students from PS191 got the chance to do just that, thanks to the Manhattan Community Squash Center. So far, we have had great reviews from the participants. Since squash could be played individually or in a team, students will get the experience of building camaraderie amongst their peers, making friends, and exercising at the same time. This 6-week Squash sampler takes place every Monday and Wednesday. Thanks to the generosity of donors, the squash team is driven to the Manhattan Community Squash Center by charter bus and on their first day were gifted with personal gear and snacks.
Lexia Reynoso, Assistant Director of Youth Development and Education stated "During our first run during the pre-quarantine program, the elementary participants at Elliott absolutely loved the experience and the first day of this program was no different."
We are SO excited to present our School Bridge social awareness project; a celebration, and homage to an incomparable beauty and unstoppable force. The mayor announced a blended/ recreational summer program. "The program will replace the typical summer school operations as well as city-run summer camps but will not affect the summer youth employment program for teens." We look forward to working with our local schools on this initiative.
Staff assigned to our Clinton Housing Development Corporation sites are back and providing in-house counseling services.
Free COVID-19 vaccines are available for all over age 16. No appointments are necessary. Just walk in. Second doses of the Pfizer vaccine also available. Must present your vaccination card with first dose information. Available at the Fulton Community Center 119 9th Ave, New York, NY 10001 (between 17th and 18th Street), Tuesday - Saturday from 10 am - 4:30 pm. All you need is a photo ID.
May 1 - You can find Hudson Guild staff making COVID-19 vaccine appointments on the corners of 23rd St. & 8th Ave as well as on 14th St. & 8th Ave. Our goal is to spread awareness about the Fulton Community Center Vaccine Hub.
May 7 - July 5 - New Life: Art by Youth. This exhibit features artwork by youth ages 3 - 24 in Hudson Guild's Early Childhood, SchoolBridge, and Teen Services programs. The exhibit will be on view at all times in the Elliott Center windows from May 7 - July 5.

May 13- Performing Artworks Presents: Carnegie Hall Ensemble Connect a Free Virtual Concert Ensemble Connect, a music ensemble based at Carnegie Hall, is a two-year fellowship program for extraordinary professional musicians that prepares them for careers combining musical excellence with teaching and community engagement. May 17 - Cloisters: The Metropolitan Museum of Art presents Cloisters a virtual tour of the renaissance and gothic period art. If you are a senior and would like to attend this event please do so by emailing ascott@hudsongu​ild.org.
May 17 - FDNY Virtual Fire Safety Presentation: from 11am-12pm. Important topics that will be discussed like escape plans, common causes of fires, different fire alarms, etc. For more info please email ascott@hudsongu​ild.org.
May 25-27 - The spring pop-up shop will be our second pop-up shop and will take place over three days. We have donations from Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, Pfizer, Camp, Bundles of Joy NY, and Avenues: New World School. The shop will run from 12pm - 5pm. Participants should sign up with their program contact to schedule a time to shop. Look out for more information coming soon!
