Meet Danziell!

Danziell.jpg

Danziell is one of the newest and youngest members of the maintenance team here at Hudson Guild’s Elliott Center. Although he has just recently joined the maintenance team, he has been a familiar friendly face around the community and here at Hudson Guild since his internship with Teen Services in 2013! Hudson Guild is a place that Danziell holds very close to his heart. From growing up in the area, Hudson Guild has helped with his education, his mental health, and has become a comfortable place for him to freely express himself. He is proud to work for an organization that cares so much about giving people a sense of home, hope, and opportunity while also offering kids in the community important life experiences.

Danziell loves that he is able to help people, build community, and finds joy in listening to any and everyone’s unique life stories. One of Danziell’s main goals in life is to start a beautiful family with his wife. He feels grateful that he will be able to instill all the great morals and values that Hudson Guild has shown him, into his future children. Danziell would love to someday travel to the Bahamas where he wants to enjoy an unlimited supply of lobster and Sprite!

“Hudson Guild is like an angel that looks over all of us.” - Danziell

Celebrating Miguel Pedraza-Cumba

unnamed_(1)-0001.jpg

After almost 30 years of incredible service, we are saying goodbye to one of Hudson Guild's most impactful members, Miguel Pedraza-Cumba, as he begins his retirement. Miguel served as the Deputy Executive Director of Hudson Guild and since 1992 has been involved with every program that Hudson Guild has to offer. Miguel has directly impacted the development of Hudson Guild as an organization and the care he put into this work here will resonate for years and years to come. Hudson Guild would not be where it is today without Miguel's influence, which is why we've decided to name one of our community rooms at our Fulton Center location after his name! This is just a small token of our appreciation for the 29 years that Miguel Pedraza-Cumba has dedicated to the Hudson Guild community.

Haunted House

This year's Hudson Guild Haunted House was a huge success! Over 400 people, including families and community members, came and experienced terrifying scenes of scary clowns, haunted dolls, hungry zombies, and even a haunted Wizard of Oz. Thank you to all of the volunteers/staff who spent hours building the haunted rooms, participated in acting, guided groups throughout the house, and contributed to providing the Chelsea community with one of the only free Haunted Houses in the area!

Cultura Hispana

Hispanic Heritage Month ended in October and Hudson Guild's NORC program always takes a lot of pride in celebrating our Hispanic community. The NORC Cultura Hispana class watched movies that celebrated Hispanic representation, shared stories about their cultures, all while listening to salsa music, and enjoying empanadas! Space was limited to ensure social distancing.

Let's Match the Wayans Family's $50k!

Copy_of_WayansMatch1.jpg

Help Us Match the Wayans! Hudson Guild is excited to announce the Wayans Family 50k Match campaign. The Wayans family has been a huge part of Hudson Guild community for many years, from their generous donations supporting our holiday events to upgrading the gymnasium in the Elliott Center. This year the Wayans family has committed to donating $50,000 to enhance our K-8 Youth Services Program in addition to spreading holiday cheer to Hudson Guild families this season. There is a catch though... They are challenging other Hudson Guild supporters/partners to match their donation! Every dollar raised around Giving Tuesday (November 30th) will go towards matching their $50,000! Let’s work together to match, or even surpass the Wayans gift! Share a picture of your donation on social media platforms, tag Hudson Guild (@hudson_guild) & Marlon Wayans (@marlonwayans) and use the hashtags, #Letsmatchthewayans #Hudsonguildwayans #HGgivingtuesdaychallenge. This Month's Buzz

Hudson Guild Theatre Company premiered it's first three performances of Around The World In 80 Days, A New Dance Adaptation, which included two sold out shows! The audience as well as Hudson Guild were excited to experience shows in the theatre for the first time since 2019. If you haven't gotten the chance to watch one of the performances yet, there are still tickets available for the remaining showtimes on November 5th at 8pm, November 6th at 2pm, and November 7th at 3pm. Visit the link below to secure your tickets now: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/around-the-world-in-80-days-a-new-dance-adaptation-tickets-187836934327.

The Holiday season is approaching and it's time for our annual Toy Drive! The families of Hudson Guild are depending on the kindness of friends and supporters to make sure that every child and older adult in our programs receives a present this year. We cannot let them down! Please consider donating an item from our Amazon Holiday Wish List. Items will be delivered directly to Hudson Guild for distribution. Thank you for helping us make this holiday season a special one for our community! Visit the link below to contribute to our Toy Drive: https://a.co/4kTTsqN.

Help us support Hudson Guild families this winter with our 2021 Winter Warmth Drive! Hudson Guild's Junior Advisory Board is raising funds to help keep NYC families warm. The Covid-19 pandemic is still impacting the participants served by Hudson Guild and families in Chelsea continue to struggle to provide food and shelter for themselves and their families. Many are unable to pay their utility bills and with extreme weather becoming more frequent, these families have a heightened need for warm clothing this fall and winter. With the funds we raise, we will purchase brand new winter coats, hats, mittens, and scarves to distribute to Hudson Guild participants who need them. Every penny we raise will go directly towards supporting Hudson Guild's participants, and no donation is too small. Thank you, as always, for your generosity, and let's take care of one another this winter! Visit the link below to donate: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/winterwarmthdrive.
