Selena is the Kitchen Coordinator for our Adult Services program at Hudson Guild and has been for five years now! In her role, Selena runs all kitchen operations for the program, which meant providing 350+ hot meals daily to older adults pre-pandemic. During the peak of the pandemic, Selena, along with other essential Hudson Guild staff, helped prepare and distribute hot meals to hundreds of participants on weekends when leaving the house wasn’t an option for some. Since we reopened our doors to in-person meals for our older adult participants, Selena has been back in the kitchen preparing meals and making sure the community has hot, healthy, and delicious meals. She is proud that she has the opportunity to show her passion for cooking at the Guild. Getting to see the smiles on the faces of the program participants as they share meals together brings Selena endless joy.
Selena comes from a large family and her interest in cooking stems from helping her mom in the kitchen as a child. While exploring and mastering flavors from various ethnic cultures, Selena sees baking and cooking as an art form.
Apart from cooking, Selena’s favorite vacation spot is the Bahamas, where she likes to visit for moments of relaxation and peace.
