Since early November, after-school participants have been diving into the world of robotics through weekly courses taught by students on Avenues The World School’s competition-winning robotics team. From engaging in coding to tracking their weekly progress, and even building their own robots to carry out specific tasks, the students have fully immersed themselves in the program.

Several new and returning educational, recreational, and artistic programs kicked off this January at our Fulton Community Center for older adult participants including, an Afro-Carribean movement class, a hybrid zumba gold class, basket weaving, alcohol ink painting, and a new sculpture class. Beginning this month is a new fused glass-making class.

Employees from Google held an introduction course on coding with an eager group of our youth participants. The volunteers shared about their roles at Google, introduced the girls to the basics of coding, and went into a coding exercise where participants built their own superheroes.
A special thanks to Google for exposing our youth to STEM programs and for donating laptops so they can continue their coding journeys.
