Meet Miss Christine!

june1.jpg

Christine is the lead teacher at Hudson Guild Polly Dodge Center’s three-year-old room! After learning about Hudson Guild at a job fair, she started teaching four- and five-year-olds at our Elliott center and has worked as a teacher at the Guild since 2015. From collaborating on weekly lesson plans with fellow teachers to learning through play with the kids every day, Christine feels as though she has a second family here at Hudson Guild.

With Step-Up ceremonies approaching and #TeachersAppreciationMonth just passing, we would like to thank Christine and all the amazing teachers at Hudson Guild for their continuous hard work and dedication in shaping our students to be the best they can be.

Celebrating Our Mental Health Clinic

June2.png

On May 19th we recognized our Board President David Ellen and his family's $250,000 gift to Hudson Guild. To commemorate their generosity, the reception area of our Mental Health Services clinic has been named the Dr. Helen M. Halpern Counseling Center Reception Area, in honor of David’s mother Dr. Helen M. Halpern, who worked as a therapist her entire adult life. Along with covering costs associated with operating and maintaining mental health services, this gift gives us the ability to continue to help people in the community live more fulfilling lives. We would like to thank David for his extraordinary support and dedication to Hudson Guild over the years!

Community Art Jam is back in person!

June3.png

On June 2nd was the opening night of our 24th Annual Community Art Jam, which is back in person for the first time in three years! Over 70 artists from around the community including a handful of board and Hudson Guild staff members came by Hudson Guild Gallery to hang their artwork and chat about their pieces. The exhibit, filled with artwork of a variety of mediums, is up for viewing through August 3rd.

Arts at Fulton Community Center

June4.png

The nature photography class at our Fulton Community Center wrapped up their final classes in May. Older adult participants explored the art of photography as they learned the technical skills of making a great photo. Thank you Tom LeGoff for leading a great class and The Josephine Herrick Project for coordinating this workshop!

Hudson Guild Bridge

June5.png

Second and third graders successfully completed their STEAM program from Salvadori Center! Throughout the course students were exposed to the world of engineering, specifically the engineering process involved in bridge construction. Students built individual bridges out of crafting supplies and even worked together on a larger scale project, "Hudson Guild Bridge", which represented the coming together of community. They each presented their bridges to engineers from Turner Construction Company and received certificates of achievement for their outstanding work and dedication to the course!
