Last month, more than 400 people attended Hudson Guild Fest. The goal was to ensure that members of our community are aware of and know how to access the vast resources provided by the Guild and its partners including our Pre-K, after school, summer camp, and academic and enrichment programs for youth, our community mental health clinic, employment support, arts and theatre programs, and an array of programs and supports for older adults.

In addition the festival included numerous resources provided by our partners focused on housing, accessing government food programs, and much more. Our community came together to enjoy delicious food, hands-on activities, fun games, Mother’s Day raffles, and even an “Amazing Race”, where participants completed fun challenges around our Fulton, Elliott, Children’s, and Tech Up centers for a chance to win prizes.

A huge thanks to all of the sponsors, partner organizations, volunteers, and staff members who made this event so special including our friends from Philips Academy Andover Alumni Volunteer Committee.

Air Movie Screening

On May 16th, the talented Actor and Comedian Marlon Wayans returned to the Guild for a special movie screening of Air. The event was made possible with Amazon’s generous support. Former Hudson Guild participants, Juwan Stone and George Marfo, also returned to the Guild that evening to host a Q&A with Marlon. He talked about his experiences growing up in the neighborhood, his role in the film, and gave valuable advice to the youth in the audience.

At the event, Hudson Guild Board Member and Amazon Head of Community Affairs, Carley Graham Garcia, presented a $10,000 gift to Hudson Guild to help make it possible for children in our summer camp to go on several trips such as the Bronx Zoo, Museums, Amusement Parks, and more. Thanks again to Marlon and to Amazon for your incredible generosity.

In May, volunteers from Related and Turner Construction Company visited our centers and set up fun activities for our older adult, early childhood, and after school participants. Volunteers from Related participated in reading time and free play at the Children's Center, set up a board game competition with our NORC program, and even helped us prepare for our recent Hudson Guild Fest. Volunteers from Turner Construction Company spent the morning at our early childhood classrooms, held a painting activity and a ping-pong tournament at Fulton, and a field day at the Elliott gym.
