Created Chelsea Park, the area’s first recreational space
Lobbied for a Model Tenement House Law
Free movie showings in Chelsea Park, attracting 5,000 people
Constructed a public bathhouse on West 28th Street
Opened an outdoor milk station to improve child and adult nutrition
Created The Chelsea Homes Corporation, which financed construction of a model tenement on West 28th Street, equipping each apartment with indoor plumbing
Establishment of one of the first summer day camps in the city
Opened a dental clinic, followed by prenatal and well-baby clinics two years later
Formation of The Cellar Players, a theatre group
Ridded Tenth Avenue (a.k.a. “Death Avenue”) of street-level freight trains
