Teen & Young Adult Services Program

Offering academic achievement, life skills development, college and career training, employment experience, recreation, and social/emotional support for teens and young adults in our community. 

Teen & Young Adult Services Program

Hudson Guild's Teen & Young Adult Services program provides academic support, employment counseling, cultural enrichment, civic engagement opportunities, recreational activities, and social work case management to disconnected high-risk youth between the ages of 13 -24.

The Teen & Young Adult department is divided into three age-based cohorts (13-16, 17-21, 22-24) to better serve the needs of our young participants, with the intention of having them seamlessly transition from one stage to the next. Teen & Young Adult Services provides a well-rounded curriculum for our participants across six service areas:

Basketball - Open Gym

Elliott Center Gym - Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Fridays 6pm-9pm & Saturdays 10am-7pm
Our open gym provides a safe space for youth participants to engage in free play basketball with their peers under the supervision of dedicated mentors.

Basketball - Leagues

Summer
Our basketball leagues promote a healthy competitive environment in alignment with healthy age-regulated competition allowing youth participants to showcase their hard work and skill development in a team setting.

Basketball - AAU

Thursdays 6pm-9pm
Our AAU and skill development basketball program works with youth to help train and develop them for play at the varsity and collegiate levels. This program component works on advanced skill development, health, wellness, fitness and conditioning.

College & Career Support

HSFI - Mondays-Fridays 8am-4pm
Elliott Center
 - Tuesdays & Thursdays 4pm-7pm
Youth participants are able to get one on one support in college readiness, including identifying and selecting colleges, essay writing, college application processes, and financial aid.

Cosmetology

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays 6pm-9pm
Our cosemetology program provides students with the opportunity to learn different techniques for designing and treating their hair. New to the program, our Barber shop program allows students to learn about barbering.

Culinary Arts

Thursdays 4pm-7pm
Our culinary arts program provides basic cooking techniques and blends that make up everyday foods. The program also teaches youth how to create everyday dishes that youth can share with their families and friends.

Dance

HSFI - Mondays 3pm-6pm 
Fulton Center
 - Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays 4pm-7pm
Our dance program focuses on various types of dance including hip hop freestyle and choreographed, modern contemporary, tik-tok, and others in a fun and supportive environment.

Student Success Centers (SCC)

Hudson Guild partners with the High School of Fashion Industries to provide high quality intensive college advisement for juniors and seniors. Student support is provided in multiple areas including college applications, career advisement, grants and scholarships, and financial aid support.

Tech Up Center

Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays 4pm-7pm
Through our Tech Up Center, we seek to utilize technology in ways that provide community-based solutions, introduce and improve participant skills in the areas of photography and video production, audio arts, engineering, podcasting, and computer literacy.

Teen Lounge

Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays 6pm-8pm
Our Teen Lounge provides a safe and relaxing space for youth to come in to socialize while watching movies and playing games.

Trips & Events

Students get the opportunity to participate in various trips such as college tours, trips to MSG, college basketball games, college and career fairs, Broadway plays, museums, and so much more!

Workforce Development (WPP & SYEP)

Our workforce development program offers an intensive, high-quality experience through the Works Progress Program (WPP), where students gain paid employment across departments and community partners along with workshops in financial literacy, health and wellness, and professional development, and the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), where youth serve as mentors to younger students in Hudson Guild's Summer Camp.
